Hello. My name is Johanna Velasco-Deutsch. I am an illustrator, photographer and graphic designer working in a little studio called Happy Garaje. I've been drawing ever since I was old enough to hold crayons and I knew that when I grew up I wanted to be an artist (and a doctor, scientist, writer and rockstar ). A lot of things have led to where I am now - from years of working in the corporate world to leaving it for more artistic pursuits. Now my days are spent balancing the roles of artist, wanderer, daughter and wife in my own quirky way.I find myself attracted to dark, strange and whimsical things - from fairy tales, movies and books to an assortment of baubles like old suitcases, colorful bottles, wooden chests, kokeshi dolls, multi-colored flats and funky hats and bracelets. These things greatly influence my design and illustration style - from dreamy and whimsical, vintage and desaturated to dark and moody.

Some say that the life of an artist is not easy. That may be true but it's also exciting, colorful and crazy, and I like it that way
